Making Mini Scrapbooks Newsletter, Issue #009 -- Mini Scrapbook News
April 18, 2013

I have been spending a lot of time these past few months scrapbooking my personal family photos. We've had a lot of big milestones recently - a graduation, a joint 50th birthday party, a trip to Las Vegas, a big move to San Francisco for one of our children, etc. So many fun things to scrapbook. And joy of joys we are planning a trip to Disneyland so I will get a chance to create a special Disney scrapbook! Our family loves Disneyland and we find it a shame that we haven't been in 7 years! Obviously we are super excited about that upcoming event.

What's New At Making Mini Scrapbooks

Just because I've been busy with my own personal scrapbooks does not mean I haven't had a chance to add a lot of really fun stuff to the Making Mini Scrapbooks website. I want to share with you some of the things that have been recently added to the website!

We had a great discussion on our Yahoo Mini Books on mini album closures.

Out of that discussion came some great ideas that we decided to turn into a page on the website to inspire other readers. Some of the ideas that are on this page include buckle closures, latches, velcro, belly bands, elastic, etc., etc., Lots of great inspiration and ideas.

Mini Album Closures

We also started a themed section for the website. We would love your submission for these pages. So far we have Easter Scrapbooking Ideas and Valentine's Day. We have many more ideas coming to this section, obviously, and we would love your submissions to help really give other readers inspiration.

We also want to let you know that we created a few new tutorials. One is a Coffee Sleeve Book

The other is another File Folder Mini Album made from one file folder.

We know that alot of you have or want to start your own scrapbooking business. So we have redone our Start Your Own Scrapbooking Business page and have added a Wholesale Scrapbooking Suppliers page that gives several different wholesale suppliers. I know it has helped me to be able to pay for my scrapbooking hobby and to create a small business.

Around the Net

We would like to highlight one of our readers and Facebook friends this month. We've conducted a little interview with Tiffany Hightower. She has an online store at Pieces of Expression and a blog at She Gives and Creates.

Here is our interview with her:

When did you first get into paper crafting?
I first got into paper crafting as a young girl. I would create cards for my parents for different occasions, from Anniversary to Birthdays. That stopped for awhile, but here I am back at it again creating more.

What are your favorite things to create?
Where do you find your inspiration?
I believe inspiration surrounds us at any given moment at any time. With that being said anything can inspire me to create. It could be something I saw, heard, anything.

Tell us a bit about your online shop.I just opened my shop maybe less than a month ago. My online shop includes items already made like greeting cards, notecards and other paper crafts. I also have a Made to Order category where a scrapbook was either purchased or I put it together myself and the buyer lets me know the details on what they want the book to look like so I can create their item.

Any tips or advice for others thinking of opening an online shop?
If you are thinking about opening an online shop I would advise one to research any and everything you can find relating to anything you would like to learn about. Even after you open up shop still continue to research, there is a lot of helpful information from many different people who are or may have been where you are right now and when you feel that you have enough information go for it and enjoy the start of a new journey.

That's it for this newsletter. Until next time... Keep on Making Mini Scrapbooks!
