How To Create a Star Book
7 pieces of cardstock cut to 8" x 4"
7 pieces of cardstock cut to 6-1/2" x 3-1/2"
7 pieces of cardstock cut to 5-1/2" x 3"
2 pieces of chipboard cut to 4" x 4"
2 pieces of patterned paper about 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" to cover chipboard
About 30 inches of ribbon.
Glue or tape your 5-1/2 x 5-1/2 pieces of patterened cardstock to your chipboard. Cut corners diagonally as shown. Fold over and adhere each side to chipboard.
Cut your remaining pieces of cardstock as called out above. You will have seven pieces of each size.
Fold all pieces exactly in half.
Starting with your 5-1/2 x 3" paper, adhere double-sided tape to the outside, shortest edge only. Line the edge of one of the 5-1/2 x 3 (smallest piece) with the edge of one of the 6-1/2 x 3-1/2 (middle sized) pieces.
Repeat on the other side so that the small piece is adhered to the medium piece at both of the short edges only. It should gap a bit in the middle.
Repeat until all of the smallest pieces of cardstock are adhered to the medium pieces of cardstock in this way.
Line up the edge of the medium cardstock with the short edge of the largest cardstock. Do this for both sides. It should look like this when done.
Repeat until all seven sections are done.
Place the next section right on top of the adhesive being careful to make sure your edges are lined up straight.
Note that the sections are only adhered in the front towards the point and are not adhered in the back.
Adhere the ribbon to the insides of your covers. I used a glue gun to really adhere it well. Adhere these covers to each side of your star book so that the ribbon is on the inside.
You can tie the book closed as shown, or you could wrap the ribbon around the book and tie closed.
