Premade Scrapbooks

Using premade scrapbooks is probably the easiest way to get started on a mini album. You simply purchase one and scrapbook it as you would with a larger one. The advantage is that it's not as overwhelming and you can zero in on a specific theme or event.

Here is a memory album I made for my nephew Josh and his new bride, Jessica.

I used a Making Memories Boho Chic mini album to start. For the embellishments and papers I used a lot of stuff I happened to have in my stash -- some Jolee's Boutique dimensional stickers, some leftover things from my in-laws 50th anniversary album, and a paper stack from Hot Off the Press that I had purchased on eBay.

The bride and groom had eloped to Reno! My sister and I were able to join them with only 30 minutes notice! It was so fun and I felt so honored to be able to go.

When we create scrapbooks we are recording our family history. Something that we have recently started doing in our family is recording oral histories of the older family members. We record interviews with them using digital recorders and then transcribe these into written transcripts. You can hire services such as Oral History Transcription Services to provide this service to you at a reasonable price. The written transcripts make wonderful gifts to give at Christmas time or on special anniversaries. Be sure to make a back-up of your digital recording so that you always have a copy of your loved one's voice, even long after they are gone. Our family has a goal to interview everybody in the family eventually!
