Packing Tape Transfer Technique

I love the translucent look you get with an image when using the packing tape transfer technique. Here is how to do it.

Choose and cut out the image you wish to use. Magazine photos work very well for this technique. For this first one I chose an image out of Burpee's gardening catalog. They have great, colorful flower images that I love!

This one is cut from a gift bag. I am able to get tons of images for various projects from just one gift bag.

Adhere packing tape to the front of your image. Burnish with a bone folder.

Soak in a bowl of water for about 10 minutes.

Take out of the water and gently rub off the paper on the back. This is a little messy.

TIP:DO NOT USE YOUR FINGERNAIL. Use only the pad of your thumb or finger. If there is still some paper, soak it in the water some more and try again. The one I made from the gift bag took several more soakings than the magazine image.
