The accordion book is a great scrapbook for beginners and even more experienced paper crafters who want a quick project. It is one of the staples of the mini scrapbook world as they are so versatile and you can do so many things with them! We thank Jaine Drake for creating this tutorial for us!
3 pieces of colored cardstock or double sided scrapbook cardstock cut to 12" x 6" or 1 piece of 24" x 6"
2 pieces of 6" x 6" cardstock for the back and front cover
A piece of ribbon
Fold each of the 12 x 6 pieces of scrapbook paper or cardstock in half
to form the pages. Glue them together as shown in the picture below. Or if you are
using one large piece of cardstock, fold accordion style by folding in
half, turning over and folding the ends into the center. It is nice to use a solid color for the inside pages and then a patterned paper for the covers, but you can do it the reverse way as well with just as charming results.
Lay the ribbon across the back cover. Secure with a little tape, if necessary. Adhere the covers to the pages as shown. So simple and easy! And what a beautiful mini album you have made!
Above is a photo of adhering the ribbon to the covers before adhering the covers to the rest of the book. It is as simple as a piece of double sided tape lying across the ribbon.
You are now ready to embellish your mini scrapbook as you wish. And don't forget you have the reverse pages to decorate too, which means double the pages! You can use these for any theme you want such as family, baby, seasons (fall, winter, spring, summer), Christmas, birthday party (could even make as a gift or card for a birthday or other special occasion), all about me, all about a special person, pets, adoption, hobbies, sports, friendship, gardening, Halloween, Easter, Valentine's Day, love, cooking, boating, Fourth of July, travel, coffee, chocolate, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc., etc. I think you get the idea!
Tie it closed with the ribbon.
